Table information for 'sidc_k_forecast.epn_core'

General

Table Description: One predicted local geomagnetic K index per three-hour interval and source forecast issue.

This table is available for ADQL queries and through the TAP endpoint.

Resource Description: Historical 3-hour geomagnetic K-index forecasts. Each row covers one [start_time, end_time) interval and one forecast issue. Different issues forecasting the same interval are retained separately.

Columns

Sorted by DB column index. [Sort alphabetically]

NameTable Head DescriptionUnitUCD
granule_uid Granule_uid Stable identifier built from source forecast ID and complete three-hour interval start timestamp. N/A meta.id;meta.main
source_forecast_id Source_forecast_id Primary key of the original forecast record in SIDC MySQL. N/A meta.id
issue_time Issue_time Effective issue time in JD: Nominally matching the issue time of the ursigram (ursigram.date_of_issue); otherwise forecast.forecast_date plus 750 minutes. d time.epoch
start_time Start_time Start time of the interval for the K index forecast, expressed as Julian Date (JD); source times assumed UTC. d time.start
end_time End_time End time of the interval for the K index forecast, expressed as Julian Date (JD); nominally +3h after the start_time.end; boundary is exclusive; source times assumed UTC. d time.end
k_index K_index Predicted three-hour local geomagnetic K index (dimensionless); not automatically a planetary Kp forecast. The first four entries (corresponding to the forecast, i.e. 00:00-12:00 UTC of the first day) are replaced by measured values. N/A N/A
